The Chronicles of Destiny October Challenge
To celebrate the first birthday of The Chronicles of Destiny Fortune Cards we're hosting a Chronicles themed photo challenge during October!
For anyone unfamiliar with the concept, on each day of the month you post the photo that corresponds with the date - so on the 1st of October you would post a photo of your Story Spread reading, on the 2nd post a "shelfie" with Guardian of the Books and so on.
As Chronicles is a book themed deck we've included a mix of card and book related photos and we've tried to make the challenge inclusive for those who have yet to buy the deck! So if you would like to take part but don't have the cards, you could use your preferred tarot or oracle decks for the readings, and for the days where we've asked what your favourite card is or which one resonates with you here is a fabulous YouTube video by Kelly from The Truth in Story where she walks through all the cards!
There are a few spreads that we've designed specially for this challenge (Dreams, Whispering Hall and Dreamcatcher), the layouts will be posted shortly before the days they are due!
Update: The Dreams Spread is now posted below.
This will primarily be taking place on Instagram, but if you have Facebook, Tumblr or Pinterest you can take part on those as well! All you need to do is tag your photos #chronicleschallenge and tag me (Ems) - all of the links to my social media accounts can be found below.
We're looking forward to seeing how you all feature the cards alongside the day's challenge!

The Dreams Spread
For Day 5 of the Chronicles Challenge - this is the Dreams Spread!
This spread is all about your dreams and goals. The cards at the centre, position 1, are chosen by the Seeker (yourself or whoever you are reading for) to represent the dream itself. You can choose one, two or three cards to act as the significator. For instance, if your dream is to be successful in your work - Guardian of the Books and Victory. If you want to achieve balance in your life - Balance. If you're hoping to sell your house - Accepting the Quest, Treasure and Castle.
Once you've chosen your significators lay them out in the centre and focus on them whilst shuffling.
1. Your goal or dream as represented by significator cards.
2. Background information, your motivation.
3. Any obstacles you may face.
4. How you can help yourself.
5. Help you will receive from others.
6. The current status of your goal.
7. Outcome.

Whispering Hall Spread
This spread touches on our shadow side and explores our inner doubts, fears and how we can better accept and love ourselves.
Whilst developing this spread I found that the positions didn't really "want" to be defined, so I've left it completely open to interpretation, that way you can each see how the cards relate to you individually. Think of it like an inverted Story Spread to be read like a narrative - we place Whispering Hall underneath the cards as a significator because this is dealing with our deepest selves, and also to represent overcoming these aspects.
If you'd like a little guidance with the positions, in my personal experience with the spread, both for myself and a few friends, these are the positions that we found applied for us -
1. Where you are right now, present influences and experiences. This can be quite a telling card, if you feel lost in that whispering hall right now but a positive card shows up then perhaps things aren't quite as bad as they seem.
2. The root or cause of these feelings, where they stem from or what brings them to the surface.
3. Advice from the cards and lessons to learn.
I would add that, as this is more of self-exploration spread and not predictive, I took out the timing cards (Time Flies and Calendar) and also Hero II and Heroine II.

The Dreamcatcher Spread
The Dreamcatcher spread, like its namesake, is quite an intricate layout. It exposes the source of any negativity around you and reveals how to attract positivity into your life.
Its positions were founded on Native American teachings, particularly those of the Ojibwe tribe. Below I have clarified the background to each card to help you understand why that position its meaning. Again, as with the Whispering Hall Spread, I would recommend removing Time Flies, Calendar and the extra people significators from the deck before doing the reading, unless you have very clear intentions as to who they represent before you begin.
Positions 1, 2, 3 and 4 refer to the Four Directions on the Medicine Wheel: East, South, West and North.
Positions 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 take their meanings from the Seven Stages of Life:
5 - The Good Life
6 - The Fast Life
7 - The Wandering Life
8 - The Stages of Truth and Planning
9 - Doing and The Elder Life
If you would like to read more about these traditions Four Directions Teachings has lots of wonderful information!
